The AGM ran to a different format this year. We met in the car park of the Remuera Club and proceeded indoors. There are no tales of getting lost en route or complaints about the quality of the instructions. Although Graeme was late!
This was Mike’s last event as President. We are sad to farewell Mike and Deepa and thank them for their enthusiastic support of the club. We expect that we will continue to travel the same roads!
Mike ran a slick meeting – we proceeded through the agenda at pace. Rod’s Treasurer’s report was accepted, following a discussion about how to spend any excess funds. Mike’s President’s report reminded us that we have had a busy schedule of events over the past year. Moving right along to the committee elections, Daryl Jeffery has had his arm twisted to take on the President role for the next year. Ken West has taken over as Treasurer (sigh! Ed) and we still have a vacancy for Secretary. Following the election of officials Daryl stepped up and thanked Mike for his work as President. Rod proposed a vote of thanks to the Milners for allowing us to use their premises for our committee meetings.
And then to lunch … the Remuera Club provided a good and generous lunch. The highlight, for some, may have been three flavours of ice cream with the pudding course! A good opportunity to catch up and tell more tall stories about cars. We disbursed into the afternoon looking forward to another year of adventures with the Mercedes Club, though some of us may have gone home to sleep off lunch! And no cars had to be trucked home.
