We had a large turnout of Club members at our annual ‘Mid Winter Dinner and Prize Giving’ at the Surrey Hotel in central Auckland. Our event organiser and MC Bill Bray was as eloquent as always, and Ken Williams gave an informed preview of what can be expected at the upcoming Hampton Downs ‘have a go’ Open Day event. The buffet dinner was very tasty and satisfied everyone’s hunger, with thirsts well quenched by the fruits of New Zealand vineyards.
Then it was on with the Awards…
Committee Merit Award (English Tray) awarded to Frank Parker for his excellent hosting of the Whangarei weekend.
Committee Discretionary Award (Vankan Cup) went to Garry Boyce for his spectacular efforts organising the Concours d’Elegance.
The Fleming Tray for the Best Magazine Article, awarded to David Winn for his report on the 40th Anniversary celebrations.
Millennium Trophy awarded by the President to Allison Boyce for her efforts in providing a wonderful venue for the 40th Anniversary cocktail evening.
Philomena Organ Cup awarded to Barbara Lokes for the lady that attended the most club events.
Trials Trophy (Peter Braun Trophy) went to Mark Farnham for his highly creative entry at the Sun Set Rally.
The Wooden Spoon bestowed on David Winn for his less than satisfactory navigational skills.
Hard Luck Piston went to Barry Bollington for getting lost as only Barry can do.
Clubman Family Member Trophy (Queenin Trophy) presented to Barbara Lokes for her hard work in organising the Mercedes Club contribution at the Concours d’Elegance.
Clubman Trophy, awarded to winner Greg Lokes for the most Club Points this year.
A big congratulations to all the deserving winners for their achievements and contributions throughout the year. And thank you to the Auckland Mercedes Club committee members and our President for organising such highly successful monthly events for the enjoyment of our members. The Club is in good hands.
